An exhibition of work by Sheffield based artist Brigitte Pemberton, whose art engages with a broad spectrum of creative ideas. The artist’s work explores many subjects from landscapes to personal responses to political and social issues.

We are pleased to announce the welcome return of ‘The Devil’s Violin’, a popular rural touring performance trio consisting of a charismatic storyteller, an excellent cellist and a superb violinist. They tell traditional tales for a modern audience accompanied by hypnotic music. They will be at the Institute in Taddington on Thursday 28th March at 19:30 with their new show ‘Stolen’.
If you are looking for a high quality, entertaining night out in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, if you enjoy a night of entertaining theatre, storytelling and music, if you like innovative and entertaining productions of classic plays and stories, then you will not be disappointed. ‘Stolen’ is a masterclass in storytelling – by combining enchanting traditional tales with fabulous contemporary music, it has audiences on the edge of their seats.
‘The Devil’s Violin’ have an uncanny knack of taking traditional tales and putting their own spin on them, so that they feel fresh for a modern audience. ‘Stolen’ tells the tale of a young woman who goes missing and the search for her which uncovers dark secrets. Described as spinetingling, heart stopping and darkly funny, this promises to be a fantastic night of top-notch storytelling with music.

We are delighted to let you know that, on Saturday 2nd March in the Institute, newly formed local singing group Peak Voices will be performing One Song More, a selection of songs from popular West End musicals such as Blood Brothers, Chicago, West Side Story and Les Miserables.
The group, made up of professional singers and musicians Chris Blackshaw, Andrew Edwards, Gemma Flitter, Liz McKenzie and their accompanist Wendy Byrne, recently got together to share their love of singing with a wider audience in small villages. They are all ex members of Bakewell Youth Theatre who got together for a concert back in June and have now developed into the company ‘Peak Voices’.
