Live and Local – Three men in a boat

THREE MEN IN A BOAT by Kick In The Head

@ Bramwell Memorial Institute Taddington – Friday 25th March @7:30pm

A one man show of Jerome K Jerome’s ridiculous tale of men behaving badly while messing about in boats.

The Show
After the huge success of Old Herbaceous, Kick In The Head productions are back with a rip roaring barrel of fun, Three Men in a Boat, with Giles Shenton (Old Herbaceous) playing the part of Jerome K Jerome.
This show is adapted from one of the bestselling books of all time and one that has never been out of print since it was first published in 1889.
Giles Shenton expertly takes the helm and pilots you through the Jerome K Jerome’s ridiculous tale of men behaving badly while messing about in boats!
“Skilfully distilled from Jerome K. Jerome’s comic masterpiece into 95 minutes of pure delight.”
“The nearest thing to “audio slapstick” I’ve ever heard, culminating in the sublime comedy of opening a tin, when you’ve forgotten the tin opener. It is not often that you come out of a theatrical performance feeling like you’ve been sharing happy and hilarious times, safe from a cruel world & wrapped in a warm blanket.”

Tickets can be bought on Saturday at the café, by calling Peter or by calling/texting Jan.

Statement from the Taddington Parish Council

A pernicious water weed called New Zealand Pygmy Weed has been identified in High Mere and its immediate surrounds. It grows very fast and densely, smothering plants and pond life

One of its main characteristics is that even the tiniest shred of the weed, for example on a boot, an animal’s leg or a tyre, regenerates very quickly and spreads the problem widely.

The National Park Authority, after consultation with Taddington Parish Council, will be taking active steps to treat the weed as soon as practicable.

Meanwhile, people are asked to stay away from the High Mere pond and keep dogs and children away. If for any reason, you have to enter the pond area, you are advised to clean your boots and any animal with you as soon as you leave the site in order to limit the spread of the plant.

Please co-operate because of the huge damage that could otherwise be caused

  • Goat milk soaps
  • Artisan chocolates

Unfortunately we have not seen the back of the pandemic and we are therefore obliged to follow current government mandates and the advice of Public Health experts. This means that you will be required to wear a face covering (unless eating/drinking at a table) and to maintain a respectful distance from those you do not share a household with. Hand sanitisers will be available, as will spare face coverings in case you forget yours. And of course please stay away (much as we hate to say it!), if you are experiencing any cold/flu-like or other symptoms.
Let’s work together as a community to keep things going but to stop the spread and have a Covid free Christmas in Taddington.
