Taddington Wells Week 2022

20 August to 26 August 2022

A WARM WELCOME

Every year, the small village of Taddington in the Peak District National Park, Derbyshire, is pleased to welcome people from all over the world to its Well Dressing and Flower Festival.

Each year there is a different theme on which the designs are based and this year the theme is Journeys.

The Village Fete runs at the same time, with events throughout the week for a wide range of ages.

Live and Local – George Egg – DIY Chef

In DIY Chef, a health scare sees George banished from the family kitchen but, relocated to the garden shed, his imagination and resourcefulness lead him to build an improvised kitchen there instead. During what promises to be an inspiring and inventive evening of stand-up, live cooking and comedy lecture, George prepares a breakfast, a lunch and a dinner using, amongst other things, a wallpaper stripper, a heat gun, a paper shredder and a whole host of other power tools, office equipment, hair-dressing appliances and gardening implements. And the audience gets to eat the food at the end.

George Egg: DIY Chef has been a Total Sell Out at two consecutive Edinburgh Fringe Festivals, where it enjoyed a glut of 5 star rave reviews and now it’s now on tour throughout the UK. New material, new methods and a whole new menu from the comedian who brought you ‘Anarchist Cook’!

“Trust us, you won’t believe how good the food is.” The Scotsman – “Brilliantly funny.” The Observer

Live and Local – Three men in a boat

THREE MEN IN A BOAT by Kick In The Head

@ Bramwell Memorial Institute Taddington – Friday 25th March @7:30pm

A one man show of Jerome K Jerome’s ridiculous tale of men behaving badly while messing about in boats.

The Show
After the huge success of Old Herbaceous, Kick In The Head productions are back with a rip roaring barrel of fun, Three Men in a Boat, with Giles Shenton (Old Herbaceous) playing the part of Jerome K Jerome.
This show is adapted from one of the bestselling books of all time and one that has never been out of print since it was first published in 1889.
Giles Shenton expertly takes the helm and pilots you through the Jerome K Jerome’s ridiculous tale of men behaving badly while messing about in boats!
“Skilfully distilled from Jerome K. Jerome’s comic masterpiece into 95 minutes of pure delight.”
“The nearest thing to “audio slapstick” I’ve ever heard, culminating in the sublime comedy of opening a tin, when you’ve forgotten the tin opener. It is not often that you come out of a theatrical performance feeling like you’ve been sharing happy and hilarious times, safe from a cruel world & wrapped in a warm blanket.”

Tickets can be bought on Saturday at the café, by calling Peter or by calling/texting Jan.
